What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

We want you to know exactly what we believe at Logansport Church. These 10 Core Values are the foundation that our church is built upon, and define who we are. If you have any questions, fill out the form below, and we'll be in touch!

1. Salvation

We believe there is one God found in three persons known as the Trinity. The Bible is God's inspired word and found to be without error. Salvation is possible only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and received by accepting Him as your personal Lord and Savior
Genesis 1:1-5, Mark 1:9-11, 2 Timothy 3:16, Romans 3: 21-26

2. Friendship

We believe each Christian has been called to develop friendships with people inside as well as outside the church and introduce them to their friend and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Acts 1:8-11
1 Thessalonians 5: 1-10

3. Value

We believe in the value of all people. We will bring people into a family that loves, cares for, and provides strength and support for their needs.
Mark 5: 1-21,
Psalm 139:13-16

4. Family

We believe family is important to God. The Biblical model of marriage is to be between a man and a woman. We will strive to educate, strengthen, support, and nurture the family.
Genesis 2:19-25, Ephesians 5:22-28
Matthew 19:14-15

5. Discipleship

We believe family is important to God. The Biblical model of marriage is to be between a man and a woman. We will strive to educate, strengthen, support, and nurture the family.
Genesis 2:19-25, Ephesians 5:22-28
Matthew 19:14-15

6. Service

We believe followers of Jesus should serve as the Body of Christ out of joy. We will guide individuals in finding their area of giftedness then give them opportunities to use those gifts in the appropriate ministry.  1 Corinthians 12:1-31, John 13:1-17

7. Worship

We believe glorifying God and experiencing His presence through Christ centered worship is central to who we are. Our worship will be life changing based on biblical principles resulting in expressions of gratitude, honor, and service.
Exodus 20:1-17
John 4:21-26

8. Relevant

We believe the church should be culturally relevant by being practical in its teaching and willing to change in its style without compromising the Word of God
Revelation 22:18-20
Mark 6:32-44

9. Standard

We believe God loves all people and sin separates us from Him. We are called to love the sinner and hate the sin. We will teach the biblical standard God desires us to live through the example set by Jesus Christ, His Son.
Amos 7:7-9
John 8:1-11
Romans 6:1-7

10. Prayer

We believe prayer has the power to release the miraculous. Opportunities shall be given to allow the hand of God to bring spiritual, physical, and emotional healing to individuals.
Mark 1:35
James 5:13-18

Other beliefs that we stand by...

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe.  He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  These three are co-equal and are one God. Jesus tells us that God is our Father. We believe that we have a heavenly Father and we acknowledge that in our prayers.

 Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He is co-equal with the Father.  Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross.  He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.  He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

 Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God.  He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ.  He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation.  He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.  He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved.  As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18

Salvation

The Bible is God’s Word to us.  It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.  It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.  Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

 2 Timothy 3:16;  2 Peter 1:20,21;  2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6;  Proverbs 30:5

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character.  People are the supreme object of God’s creation.  Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”.   This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

 Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it.  We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.  Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.  When we turn from our self-ruled life to Jesus in faith we are saved.  Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

 Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5

Eternity

People were created to exist forever.  We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation.  To be eternally separated from God is Hell.  To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in heaven.  Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

 John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9
